Georgia CORE is blessed to have friends and supporters from all over Georgia. As a member of this tribe, you have been touched by cancer. Because this is such a deeply personal experience, it can leave a mark in profound ways. That’s what motivates Georgia CORE’s Board, staff, doctors, volunteers and donors to band together in service and compassion.
We’re here to make cancer care and the cancer-related experience better for all – those treated for and cured of cancer, those in remission and with metastatic disease, those who provide treatment to patients and those who care for loved ones. We need each of you to make Georgia CORE even stronger, and we are honored that so many of you need us – for research, navigation, genetics, survivorship, advocacy and other programs. We honor especially each survivor who has heard unwelcome news, made tough choices, overcome obstacles and then chosen to give back by caring for others. We are awed by those of you who listen with kindness, hold hands, say prayers, write checks, send cards and provide meals – simple and life enriching support we all need. Thank you.

Tom and Karen Chapman
Tom and Karen Chapman have both been touched by cancer in too many ways. Tom lost his first wife to cancer. As her caregiver, he felt so frustrated at times trying to find resources to help her on her cancer journey. Years after she passed away, Tom was diagnosed with cancer himself. This time he was the patient, and his wife Karen was his caregiver. Karen has also been a caregiver for another close family member. Tom and Karen know all too well the life-changing challenges faced by both cancer survivors and their caregivers.
Because of their personal cancer journeys, Tom and Karen Chapman contributed a $100,000 gift to Georgia CORE – the Center for Oncology Research and Education to develop the Cancer Survivorship Connection. This is a statewide, interactive online cancer survivorship center to enhance access to information and resources for cancer survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. The overall goal of the Cancer Survivorship Connection is to create one space where survivorship information, navigation, tools, and support are available in order to improve the quality of life for the 410,740 cancer survivors in Georgia.
