Harbin Clinic Joins the Atlanta Regional Community Clinical Oncology Program (ARCCOP)

12/02/2009

The ARCCOP is a consortium of sites that have partnered to participate in NCI-sponsored cancer clinical trials. Historically, the ARCCOP affiliates have been located in the metro Atlanta area. Effective November 2008, the Harbin Clinic in Rome joined the ARCCOP broadening the availability of NCI-sponsored clinical trial participation in the state of Georgia. Drs. Khan, Abdou, Dillmon, Mumber, Santoro, and Simpson have eagerly supported the affiliation as a result more than 240 patients have been screened for possible trial participation, resulting in 17 patients that have been enrolled. Current members of the ARCCOP include Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta, DeKalb Medical Center, Gwinnett Health System, Harbin Clinic, Northside Hospital, Piedmont Hospital, Southern Regional Medical Center, WellStar Cobb and Kennestone. The ARCCOP is currently in negotiations with an additional site, further advancing the goal of increasing accessibility of clinical trial participation in Georgia. Currently the ARCCOP has over 40 active trials and 130 investigators. For additional information contact Karen E. Packard, RN, MSN, AOCN, Program Coordinator of the ARCCOP at KPackard@sjha.org, 678-843-7710.
