Gabram Awarded 2010 Atlanta Business Chronicle Healthcare Heroes Community Outreach Award

Dr. Sheryl G.A. Gabram-Mendola and her team at the Avon Comprehensive Breast Center at Grady have increased awareness of breast cancer and diagnosed it earlier in minority women that are high-risk. Her efforts in reducing disparities led to being named as the winner of the 2010 Atlanta Business Chronicle Healthcare Heroes Community Outreach Award. The Avon Comprehensive Breast Center is recognized as a crucial component of the Grady Health System. The Center was awarded full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Center, a program administered by the American College of Surgeons in March 2010, making it the only public hospital program in the southeast to earn such recognition.
